Understand one-tap rebook for returning clients
What it is
One-tap rebook is a shortcut on your booking page for clients who have visited you before. The client types their phone number, and if your location recognises it from an earlier visit, the page offers to book the same service with the same team member again, at the weekday and time of day the client usually comes. If a matching opening exists, the client sees one specific day and time and can accept it with one tap instead of walking through every step.
You do not turn it on or off and there is nothing to configure. It works for every location whose booking page is live, using the appointments you already have in your appointment book.
Repeating appointments, where a client sets up a standing weekly or every-few-weeks visit, are not offered on the booking page yet. This article covers only one-tap rebook.
Before you start
- Past visits at the same location. The offer only appears when the client's phone number matches a client record that has an earlier booked or checked-out appointment at that location. A new client never sees it.
- Open times that match. The page looks ahead for an opening with the same service and team member, on the client's usual weekday and at their usual time of day. If your schedule has no such opening in the period it searches, the client gets a simpler offer instead (see below).
- Your booking page is shared. Clients reach this from your booking page, so give them the link. See the booking page and booking links articles.
Steps
You do not need to do anything for the shortcut to work. To make sure your clients get the best version of it:
- Open Book in the sidebar and choose the location. This is your appointment book.
- Check that the team member your regular clients see has working hours and open time on the days they usually come. Open times are what the shortcut offers. If you want to review who works when, use Schedule.
- Keep recording visits in the appointment book as usual, including walk-ins. The more past visits a client has, the better the page guesses their usual weekday and time of day.
- When a client books through the shortcut, find the new appointment in the appointment book like any other. It looks like an ordinary appointment.
What your clients see
- At the top of your booking page, before choosing a service, the client sees the question "Been here before? Enter your phone to skip ahead." with a phone field.
- Once the phone number looks complete, the page checks it. If there is no match, nothing changes and the client simply continues. The page never shows the client their visit dates or how many visits they have.
- If there is a match and an opening fits their usual pattern, the client sees a line such as "Book again with" their usual team member, with a date and time, and two buttons: Book it and Pick a different time.
- Book it takes the client straight to the details step, with the service, team member and time already filled in. They still press Confirm to finish, so nothing is booked by accident. The usual checks still apply: the time must still be free, and if the location asks for a deposit, the client is asked for it as usual.
- If the time was taken in the meantime, the page tells the client it just filled and lets them choose another one.
- Pick a different time opens the normal steps with the same service and team member already chosen.
- If no opening matches their usual pattern, the client sees "Same as last time" with the service and team member, and two buttons: Yes, same as last time and No, pick something else. The first one continues with those two choices, and the client picks the day and time.
Common mistakes
- Expecting new clients to see the offer. It only appears for a phone number that already has a past visit at that location. A client who visited a different location will not see it at this one.
- A phone number saved differently. If a client's record has a different number from the one they type, the page cannot recognise them. Keep client records up to date in the clients list.
- Expecting repeating appointments. The booking page does not let clients set up a repeating series yet, so do not promise it to clients.
- Thinking you can switch it off. There is no setting for it. What you control is your schedule, services and team, which decide what is offered.
- Expecting a guaranteed time. The shortcut shows a time only if it is open right now. Someone else may take it first.
