Usage credits: what spends them, what each thing costs, how to see the history and what to do at zero

What it is

Usage credits are one prepaid balance for everything that costs something each time it is used. They used to be called messaging credits. They never expire.

What spends them, and the cost of each:

  • One SMS: 5 credits. This includes the SMS reply the system sends when a client answers a reminder by SMS; with too few credits, that reply is not sent.
  • One WhatsApp marketing message (for example a nudge to rebook, or an Inbox follow-up): 2 credits.
  • One WhatsApp appointment message past your plan's allowance: 1 credit. Inside the allowance it costs nothing.
  • AI visit-note or clinical-note minutes (Dictate and Record the visit), past the 150 minutes a month per person that your plan includes: 1 credit for each block of 6 audio minutes (minutes are rounded up on each recording). The minutes your plan includes each month are spent first, and only the rest uses credits. If the transcription fails, nothing is charged.

Email never uses credits. The AI in your assistants does not either: it has its own monthly limit.

Before you start

Open My business and go to Plan. The Usage credits card shows your balance and, during the rename, the line "Formerly: messaging credits". The table What each thing costs is on the same card.

Steps

See your balance and what each thing costs

  1. Open My business and go to Plan.
  2. Look at the Usage credits card: the large number is your balance.
  3. Read the table What each thing costs.

See what they were spent on

  1. On the card, choose View credit history.
  2. Read the movements, newest first: each says what caused it, when, how many credits and what your balance was afterwards. The Today: line at the top sums up the day.
  3. Choose See older to go further back. The history starts on the day it was switched on, not before.

Buy more

  1. On the card, choose Buy credits. Each pack holds 100 credits and costs MXN 199 + IVA (USD 10 if you pay in dollars).
  2. Finish the payment. When it is confirmed the balance goes up and the "your credits ran out" notice disappears.
  3. If you see "Buying credits in pesos is not available yet" instead of the button, your current balance keeps working normally and buying will open later.

When you reach zero

  1. You see a notice on the card and an alert at the top: your credits ran out.
  2. SMS, WhatsApp campaigns and Inbox follow-ups pause. WhatsApp appointment messages keep going, and so do email reminders.
  3. If you choose a follow-up in the Inbox with no credits, the screen says how many you have, how many it needs and takes you to buy. The conversation stays in your Inbox.
  4. With few credits (under 10) the card warns you before they run out.

What your clients see

Nothing changes until you reach zero: with credits, messages go out as usual. At zero your clients still get appointment messages and email, but not SMS or marketing messages, so some reminders reach them by email only.

Common mistakes

  • Thinking credits expire. They do not.
  • Thinking email or the AI in your assistants spends credits. They do not.
  • Expecting a failed message to cost you. If a message is not delivered the credit comes back and shows in the history as a separate movement.
  • Looking for phone numbers or message text in the history. They are not stored there: only the reason, the date and the credits.
  • Thinking appointment reminders stop without credits. WhatsApp ones inside your allowance and email ones keep going.

When campaigns are available, history will name the campaign on each charged send. WhatsApp and SMS use credits per delivered message; email and AI drafts use no credits.
