Choose a plan, subscribe and manage your Zelun billing
What it is
Your Zelun subscription is what you pay Zelun to run your shop. It is separate from the money your own clients pay you. Zelun prices it by plan, which the product also calls a band, and the plan is based on how many bookable people you have. A bookable person is someone who appears in the appointment book and can take appointments. The more bookable people you have, the higher the plan you need.
Every plan includes the same core of the product. The billing screen lists the core as booking, constraints, waitlist fill, the public embed, access and policies, expenses, pay-run reports, inventory and point of sale, and it says there are no add-ons to buy for them. What changes between plans is described in the comparison table, for example whether a dedicated messaging sender is included. You do not see only your own plan: the table lists every published plan side by side, so you can see what moving up would give you.
Everything about your subscription lives in the Billing section of your company page. It shows:
- How many bookable people you have, and the plan that count requires, with its price.
- A note that WhatsApp appointment messages are included in your plan, and that credits are used for SMS and for WhatsApp marketing messages. Messaging credits are a prepaid balance you top up; they are separate from your plan.
- A Compare bands table with each plan's price per month, a mark on your Current plan, and a tick or a dash for every feature (Included or Not included).
- How much visit-photo storage you have used.
- How many CFDI invoices you have left this month and when that resets. See the article on CFDI invoicing for what these are.
- Your subscription and its status once you have one.
The exact prices are always shown on this screen next to each plan. They are not repeated here because they can change.
Businesses in Mexico are billed in Mexican pesos. Prices are shown before tax with + IVA and the total with IVA beside them, and you pay with a card. Zelun issues you a CFDI for every subscription payment, addressed to your RFC, so you can deduct it. Businesses in every other country are billed in United States dollars.
Before you start
- Access to the Billing section. It is on your company page, and only people allowed to manage billing for the company can start checkout or change a discount. If you are sent to a Forbidden page, ask the company owner. The link in the payment emails Zelun sends you opens this page directly.
- Your bookable people are up to date. Your plan follows the count, so add or remove people in the Staff directory first.
- For a Mexican business billed in MXN: if the screen shows a form titled Tax data for your invoice (CFDI), fill in RFC, Legal name (razón social), Fiscal regime and Fiscal postal code exactly as they appear on your Constancia de Situación Fiscal. Checkout will not start until they are valid. The form appears only for shops billed this way.
- Checkout must be available. If the screen says Checkout is not configured in this environment, subscribing is not possible there.
Steps
Start the free trial
- Create your account from Start a free trial. No credit card is asked for at that point. The sign-up article covers it step by step.
- Use Zelun normally and subscribe when you are ready. You do not need to wait for the trial to end.
Subscribe for the first time
- Open the Billing section and check your bookable count and the plan it requires.
- If you have a discount code, type it in Discount code (the field says Enter a discount code). If the code is not valid you see That discount code is not valid and nothing is started.
- Press Subscribe. You are taken to the payment page to enter your payment details and pay.
- When you return, the billing section shows your Current plan and its status.
Move to a higher plan
- In Compare bands, find the plan above your current one. Plans above yours have an Upgrade to button with the plan's name. Your own plan and the plans below it have none.
- Press that button. You are taken to the payment page for that plan.
- Alternatively, once you already have a subscription, the main button reads Upgrade and starts checkout for the plan your count requires.
- You can choose a plan above the one your count requires. You cannot choose one below it.
Change payment method, see invoices, or cancel
- Press Manage billing. It appears once you have a subscription and opens the payment provider's portal.
- There you manage your payment details and your subscription, including cancelling it. If it cannot open, the screen says Portal unavailable.
Add, change or remove a discount code
- With an active subscription, type a code in Discount code and press Apply.
- If a discount is already applied, the screen shows Applied with its name and code. Applying a different code replaces it, and Remove discount takes it off.
- The screen notes that changes to the discount take effect on the next billing cycle, not the current one. If the code is not valid, you see That discount code is not valid.
What your clients see
Your clients do not see your subscription, your plan or your billing screen. What they notice indirectly is what your plan allows. Appointment confirmations and reminders keep reaching them on every plan from Zelun's shared sender. A plan that includes a dedicated sender can show them your own sender identity instead of the shared one. If your subscription has a payment problem, see the article on billing payment problems.
Common mistakes
- Expecting an upgrade button on your own plan or a lower one. Only plans above your current one have it, because you cannot buy a plan below what your bookable count requires.
- Adding a person and being surprised that the required plan changed. The plan follows your bookable count.
- Thinking a discount change applies today. A change to the discount applies from the next billing cycle.
- Typing a code that is not valid. The screen refuses it without starting checkout or changing your subscription.
- Mixing up messaging credits and your plan. Appointment WhatsApp messages are included in your plan, while SMS and WhatsApp marketing messages use prepaid credits. See the article on messaging included and metered for the details.
- Looking for prices in this article. They are shown next to each plan on the billing screen, and they are the ones that count.
- Seeing "Subscriptions in pesos are not available right now". Nothing was charged. Try again later or contact support.
- Seeing that your country and currency do not match. Checkout does not start. Contact support and the Zelun team fixes it.
- Expecting every shop to see the same fields. The Solo free option, the tax data form and price notices appear only on accounts they apply to.
