Share your booking page with a short link, express links and a preview card
What it is
Your clients book from your booking page. This article is about the links that lead to it and how to hand them out:
- A vanity link: a short, easy-to-read address for one location, such as "downtown-salon", meant for an Instagram bio, a QR code or a text message.
- Express links: a link for one service or one team member. When a client opens it, that service (and person) is already chosen, so they go straight to picking a time.
- A preview card: when someone shares your public page link in Instagram, WhatsApp or SMS, the message shows a picture with your location's name instead of a bare web address.
- Google Maps: your location can also be matched to Google Maps, which Zelun needs in order to prepare Google's "Reserve" style feeds for you.
All of these lead to the same booking page, so nothing you share replaces it.
Before you start
- Your location needs a booking page that is switched on (the Public page option in the location's settings). Without it the vanity link and the preview card do not work.
- The vanity link and the service links are set up from My business, in the Setup group of the sidebar. If you are sent to a Forbidden page, ask the account owner to do those parts. The team member links on the Staff screen are available to anyone who can open it.
- Express links need the location's booking key, which Zelun generates automatically. If a location has no key yet, the copy and share buttons are not shown.
- For the preview card, set your cover photo or logo first, as described in the brand kit article. Without them the card still appears, using your accent colour and your location's name.
Steps
Give a location a vanity link
- Open My business and in Locations press Edit branch on the location.
- Make sure Public page is ticked.
- In Vanity link, type the short name you want. Use lowercase letters, digits and hyphens only, from 3 to 40 characters.
- Press Save vanity link. The screen then shows where it is live. To change it later, edit the text and press Change vanity link. To remove it, press Clear.
- If the screen says the link is reserved or already taken, choose a different one. Each vanity link is unique across all of Zelun.
Copy or share an express link for a team member
- Open Staff. Each team member's card has a Copy booking link button and a Share on WhatsApp button.
- Press Copy booking link to put the link on your clipboard (the button briefly reads Copied), or Share on WhatsApp to open WhatsApp with a ready-made message and the link.
Copy or share an express link for a service
- Open My business and go to Services. Each service row has the same two buttons.
- If your company has more than one location, first pick the location in Choose a branch. The buttons stay disabled until you do.
- Press Copy booking link or Share on WhatsApp.
Match a location to Google Maps
- In Edit branch, fill in the Google Maps match section: Street, City, Region, Postal code, Country, Latitude, Longitude and Telephone.
- Latitude and longitude must be numbers, or the screen refuses to save.
What your clients see
- Vanity link. Opening it takes the client straight to your location's booking page, with the same page and the same steps as any other link. A client does not need to know your vanity link is a shortcut. If you clear it or switch off your public page, the short address stops working and shows a "not found" page, but your regular booking links keep working.
- Service link. The booking page opens with that service already selected. If only one team member offers it, that person is selected too and the client lands on choosing a day and time.
- Team member link. The booking page opens for that person. The client still starts from the service list, so a team member link is most useful when the person offers a single service. A link that names both a service and a person goes straight to that person's open times.
- Shared WhatsApp message. The message says "Book {service} with {staff} here" in your language with the link at the end.
- Preview card. When your public page link is shared, the preview shows a wide picture with your cover photo (or logo), and your location's name and company name. With no photo or logo it shows your accent colour with the names. After you change your photo, a new share shows the new picture.
- Google. Clients do not see anything in Zelun for this. If Google lists your location with a booking button, it sends them to your booking page.
Common mistakes
- Expecting the vanity link before turning on the public page. The Vanity link field only appears while Public page is ticked, and a short address stops working if the page is switched off.
- Using capital letters, spaces or accents in the vanity link. Only lowercase letters, digits and hyphens are accepted.
- Choosing a reserved word. Words Zelun uses for its own pages, such as "book" or "manage", are refused.
- Sharing a team member link and expecting the person to be chosen automatically. Today the person is only preselected when the link also names a service they offer.
- Expecting the preview card on every link. The card is attached to your public page link. Messaging apps may also keep an old preview for a while after you change your photo.
- Typing the Google Maps match in a rush. Locations without a match are left out of Google's feeds.
