Follow the Getting started checklist to your first bookable appointment
What it is
When you are new, a Getting started card appears at the top of the screen with the line "A few steps to your first bookable appointment." It lists what a shop needs before clients can book:
- Add a service: at least one service exists in your company.
- Add a staff member: at least one person exists on your team.
- Set branch hours: every branch in your company has its weekly hours set.
- Connect payments (optional): payments are connected for your branch.
Each item shows a tick when it is done and an empty box when it is not. You do not mark anything yourself. The card looks at your real information every time it is shown, so it can never disagree with what you actually have.
The card is only a guide. It never blocks anything. You can use every other screen exactly as you would if the card were not there.
Before you start
You only need to be signed in to your company. If you are still creating your account, start with the sign-up article.
Steps
Finish the items
- Add a service. The Services section of your company has an Add service button. A company with no services shows a short message inviting you to add the first one.
- Add yourself or a teammate on the Staff screen with Add staff. A company with no staff shows a message explaining that appointments need someone to be assigned to.
- Set the weekly hours of each branch in its Weekly hours fields. Tick the days the branch is open and enter the start and end of each window. Every branch needs hours, not only the first one.
- If you want to take online payments, connect payments for your branch. You can skip this item.
How items complete
- Do the task on its own screen, as usual.
- Go back to any screen. The item now shows a tick, without any extra step.
- If you later undo the work, for example by deleting your only service, the item returns to an empty box. Adding a new branch with no hours also takes the hours item back to an empty box.
Dismiss the card
- Press Dismiss on the card.
- The card disappears for your whole company. Your teammates will not see it either, and it does not need to be finished first.
When it goes away on its own
The card hides itself once the service, staff and branch hours items are all done. The payments item does not keep it visible, because payments are optional.
What your clients see
Clients do not see the checklist. The effect they notice is indirect: until you have a service, a person to book with and branch hours, there is nothing for them to book. Completing the checklist is what gives your booking page something to offer.
Common mistakes
- Thinking the card is blocking you. It never blocks anything. You can use every screen with items still unfinished.
- Stopping after one branch. The hours item is only done when every branch has hours. A second branch without hours leaves it unfinished.
- Dismissing too early. After dismissing, the card does not come back by itself, and there is no button to bring it back, even if a later change makes an item incomplete again. Check your services, staff and hours yourself afterward.
- Expecting to tick items by hand. Items complete only when the underlying information exists.
- Waiting for the payments item. It is optional and does not stop the card from disappearing.
