Messages and notifications about your appointment
What it is
After you book, the business keeps you informed about your appointment. You may get a message when it is booked, a reminder about a day before it starts, and a message if it is rescheduled or cancelled. Messages come from the business, by the channels you agreed to.
Before you start
- Email is sent if you gave an email address. The booking email includes your manage link, a map link and a file to add the appointment to your calendar. If you reschedule, the new file updates the same calendar entry.
- WhatsApp is sent only if you ticked Send confirmations and reminders on WhatsApp (optional) when you booked.
- SMS may be sent to your phone number if you allow it and the business can send it. If WhatsApp cannot be delivered, a text message may be sent instead, once.
- Which channels you get also depends on what the business offers. Messages never include private notes the business keeps about you.
Steps
See your notifications on the booking page
- Sign in on the booking page (see the article on signing in).
- Press the bell. Its number shows how many notifications you have not read.
- Read the list under Notifications, newest first. Each entry says what happened and when.
- Press an unread entry to mark it as read, or press Mark all as read.
- If the list is empty, it says No notifications yet.
See one appointment's history without signing in
- Open the manage link from your confirmation.
- If there are entries, a Notifications section lists what was sent about that appointment, such as booked, rescheduled, reminder and cancelled.
Reply to a message
If the business has turned on replies, you can answer a reminder by WhatsApp or SMS with a short word. Use only these words:
- To confirm: yes, si, confirm or confirmar.
- To cancel: no, cancel or cancelar.
- To change the time: cambiar, reagendar, change or reschedule. You will get up to three times to choose from. Reply with the number or tap the button that matches the time you want.
On WhatsApp, a business may also let you write a short request such as a service and a time. You will be offered available times to pick from. Some businesses ask you to finish the booking on their page instead, and the reply will include a link.
What happens next
- A reply applies to the appointment that the message was about. If it cannot tell which appointment you mean, nothing changes and you get a text with your manage link.
- Cancelling or changing by reply follows the same rules as the manage link, including any cancellation limits the business has.
- If the time you want is no longer free, you are offered other times instead. Your original appointment stays as it was.
- The bell updates when you reload the page or return to it. It does not buzz your phone.
Common mistakes
- Replying with a full sentence. Only the short words above are understood.
- Not seeing a bell. It only shows after you sign in, and only when your phone number is linked to appointments with that business.
- Expecting a WhatsApp message without ticking the box when booking.
- Replying to an old reminder when you have several appointments. Reply to the message for the one you mean.
- Looking for a way to stop messages on the booking page. It has none. Ask the business to change your preferences. WhatsApp and SMS reminders come only if you agreed to them.
