The mobile app for booking with a business
What it is
This is a phone app for booking a visit with a business and keeping track of your appointments and packages. It is not available to download yet, so you cannot get it from an app store today; to book now, use the business's booking page in your phone's browser.
Once it is out, you will add a business by pasting the booking link the business shared with you, or by opening that link on your phone. The app keeps a short list of the businesses you have added, and you can switch between them. Inside the app, each business shows its own name, its logo and its accent colour. If a business has not set those up, or its logo does not load, you see the app's default look and booking works the same.
Before you start
- The booking link from the business.
- Your name and your phone number. You can book without an account.
- To see your appointments and packages you need to be signed in. The app has no sign-in screen of its own yet, so those two screens only tell you to sign in.
- Everything in the app is in English for now, including the buttons. There is no Spanish version yet.
Steps
- The first time, the app shows Open a booking link. Paste the link into the box and tap Open.
- The app checks the link before saving it. If it shows "That doesn't look like a booking link." or "We couldn't open that location. Check the link and try again.", check that you pasted the whole link and try again. Nothing is saved when this happens.
- Under Book a visit, pick a Service, then a Staff member, then a Time. The times shown are the openings in the next two weeks.
- Under Your details, type your Full name and Phone, then tap Confirm booking. The app shows "You're booked" with the date and time. Tap Book another to book again, or View my appointments.
- To add another business, tap My places, then Open a booking link. In My places you can tap a business to switch to it (the current one is marked Current) or tap Remove to take it off the list. Tap Back to booking to return.
- Tap My appointments to see your appointments and their status, or My packages to see what you have left, such as visits or a balance, and when it expires. Both need you to be signed in.
What happens next
- Your list of businesses stays on your phone only, with the most recently opened first. It keeps a limited number, so the oldest one drops off when you add too many.
- When you reopen the app, it takes you back to the business you used last.
- Each package has an Add to Wallet button. It does not give you a pass for your phone's wallet yet; after you tap it, it only shows "Added (pending Apple/Google setup)".
- If a business cannot be loaded, the app shows "Could not load this location." with Try again. Your saved businesses stay on the list.
Common mistakes
- Waiting for a business list to choose from. The app has no search or directory; you add a business only with its booking link.
- Expecting to cancel any appointment from My appointments. Cancel appears only for an appointment you booked in the same visit to the app. For any other, use the link in your confirmation or contact the business.
- Expecting the app on your home screen to take the business's name or icon. The app keeps its own name and icon; the business's look appears only inside it.
- Expecting to sign in or create an account inside the app. That is not there yet.
